Next Level Communication with OrbisX & Dialpad

OrbisX integrates with Dialpad so you can send automated and conversational messages to your customers with a fixed monthly price for your voice and SMS/MMS through Dialpad. You will need an account with API access at Dialpad which at the time of writing this is called the Pro plan. They offer monthly and annual plans and have fantastic support via live chat, email and phone.

Step 1: Signup for a Dialpad Account

Setup is simple and fast. Dialpad support is also terrific – almost as good as our own which is incredibly rare to find it this good.

Step 2: A2P 10DLC Registration (US Customers)

A2P 10DLC stands for Application-to-Person messaging using a 10-Digit Long Code phone number. Translation: it means you’re using software technology to send text messages using a local phone number.

Businesses need to register their A2P 10DLC numbers with mobile carriers before sending messages. Any 10DLC numbers not properly registered with TCR will be blocked by carriers, preventing message delivery. This process is a requirement in the US and some other jurisdictions in the ongoing effort to combat spam messaging.

Fortunately, with Dialpad it’s a relatively easy process that just sounds scary – don’t worry it’s not and the Dialpad support team can help with your campaign registration as well.

All Campaign approvals are subject to a vetting process. A2P 10DLC registration can take 1-7 business days for standard use cases. Please account for this approval time when planning your registration.

To register your phone number for the A2P 10DLC regisration required if your business is in the US visit this link when ready to register:

Step 3: Create Your API Key & Setup in OrbisX

To setup your OrbisX account with Dialpad, login to Dialpad and create your API key following the instructions in the link below. Then copy/paste this API key into your OrbisX account under the Admin -> Settings -> Integrations -> Dialpad section (see screenshot below). Then choose the number you wish to use and finally set your Default SMS Gateway to Dialpad. That’s it!

You will need an API key from Dialpad with the permission scope set to include TEXT MESSAGE CONTENT or else you won’t get the actual SMS content/text saved in your logs.

IMPORTANT NOTES
  • You still have to do A2P registration with Dialpad. If transferring a number that is already registered you can transfer this registration too. Dialpad live chat can help you. Their process is much simpler to complete than Twilio.
  • Dialpad has iOS and Android apps for SMS and calling.
  • Dialpad has voicemail built-in.
  • Dialpad has amazing support (email, live chat, phone)
  • You need the PRO plan at a minimum as you need API access.
  • Dialpad will handle your notifications so you won’t see new messages in your inbox in OrbisX. Instead you will get notified on the Dialpad iOS or Android apps.
  • Dialpad offers MMS image messages also so you can send them in conversational and automated messages like lead followups within OrbisX.
  • Dialpad offers a trial period as well.
If you have more specific questions about Dialpad, their team is amazing and can definitely help with their live chat, email or phone support.
